Community Vision Pioneers Inclusion Support Training for Family Day Care Educators in Western Australia

Community Vision, a leading provider of Family Day Care services in Western Australia, is proud to announce that it is the first Family Day Care scheme in the region to offer funding for inclusion support training. This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide 1:1 support with professionals, as well as group training sessions, to enhance the skills and knowledge of educators within the Community Vision network.

Working in close collaboration with Autism Inclusion and Communicare, Community Vision has dedicated the past eight months to developing an inclusive training project tailored to the needs of its educators and recently, the organisation was granted a substantial $39,000 funding allocation to support this pioneering training endeavour.

The primary focus of the training project is to engage a specialist who will provide upskilling and coaching to educators across Community Vision, enabling them to effectively support the inclusion of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), developmental delays, and challenging behaviours within their services. The training program encompasses engaging weekend group sessions held at Community Vision’s Woodvale location, as well as personalised one-on-one mentoring sessions conducted directly within the Family Day Care venues for those who choose to participate.

The training project is scheduled to run from May 2023 to January 2024, presenting an exclusive professional development opportunity not available to any other Family Day Care educators in Western Australia. Samantha Folan, Family Day Care Coordinator at Community Vision, expressed great enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We are extremely excited to embark on this journey and support our educators in enhancing their skills and knowledge. This unique professional development model sets us apart and reinforces our commitment to providing the highest quality care and support for all children within our network.”

The inaugural group training session is set to take place on June 10th, marking the commencement of this groundbreaking inclusion support training project. Community Vision remains dedicated to ensuring that all educators within their network have the resources and expertise necessary to create inclusive environments and foster the optimal development of every child in their care.
